Friday Challenge

Today's workout was really challenging.  I started sleds with Kimberly and Matt and it was tough.  It was the first time for me using the heavier weights and the goal was 10 down and backs.  I thought this might have been a little to ambitious once we started but Kimberly was there cheering me on to keep going.  It's very cool to go through this process with other people.  Normally, if I workout on my own, I wouldn't push myself as hard as I would when I am there with someone else.  And being there with Matt and Kimberly, both of whom are much faster than me makes me want to work harder.  Any time I am on the track and someone is ahead, it's like the carrot dangling in front of me.  I might not always be able to catch them and I know that, but it does make me go just a bit faster that I was before.  So thanks to Kimberly for encouraging me today.  She made the joke that I might want to punch her, but it really is the opposite - I'm so glad. As iron sharpens iron, we can all sharpen each other in many ways throughout this process and it is pretty cool to experience.

  1. It is great how we can encourage one another. You are mentioning a couple of the benefits of working out with others. It is so much easier to not push ourselves when we are alone, but when others are with us encouraging us and doing strong themselves it drives us to do better. I am so glad you did the workout with them and saw how much more you can do.

  2. I love this! So true we tend to work harder when working out with others, especially if we're competitive!
