What has become of me....

Yesterday, as I returned to the gym, I started to ponder all the things I have been doing these last four weeks which I can now see show my determination to stick this program out. Here are my top 5:

1.       I wear the same clothes, basically every day, (on a normal basis I don’t even like to wear the same thing within a two week rotation).

2.       I wear the same shoes, which go with nothing, every day at the gym, (talk about rough, I’m always clashing)!

3.       I roll around on the ground in other people’s dirt and dried sweat several times a week.

4.       I get up in the wee hours of the morning, I have to see other people, and be pleasant, (I really dislike mornings, and being pleasant in the morning, and talking in the morning…need I go on).

5.       I put back on those same non-matching, dirty, sometimes incredibly smelly(and I mean stinky!), gym clothes for a second time just to go work out again! (I realized after the first week, that I was going to have to wash so much laundry as it is, why create more by wearing clean clothes!)

Yep, there you have it, the gross habits I have now developed. My slight germaphobe, clean freak ways are all but a memory.

It must be worth it, because I am still doing it. It has only been almost 4 weeks and I love the way I can see my body changing already. I love feeling stronger, and knowing that I am pushing myself to do more than I would have thought capable.  That is the goal that keeps me going.

  1. Yay!! Way to embrace tons of changes quickly!!
Here is a hint, regarding stinky clothes, I spread out shoes (they last longer if they aren't left damp), hang up sports bra and headband, and spread out my clothes to dry in the back seat of the car as I am working. It helps a lot!
Honestly, Kim, I would have never guessed ANY of these were issues for you, that is how well you are doing with it all!

  2. Oh phew - I thought that was me that smelled yesterday during our workout. Now I know the truth :-) HA!! It is amazing at how far we've come in just a short amount of time. I'm to the point now that even if I'm so tired when I get home, I have to get at least a 30-45 minute walk in. Before, I would have shrugged it off, but there's a sense of determination in me that I didn't know existed. Great job at overcoming your germiness (ok - it's not a word, but it is now)!

  3. Yes! My standard of cleanliness has definitely gone way down. I think when this program first started, I washed my shirt every night. But as time has gone on I keep thinking "Ain't nobody got time for that!" I think one day this week I wore the same shirt for a third time before washing it. It's pretty bad. I don't always plan ahead with laundry for multiple workouts in one day. At least I am planning ahead with my food prep? But I am very sorry if the people around me at the gym have to suffer my smelly gym clothes for my lack of preparedness.

  4. Same here... Before this week, I tried to alternate my two shirts but this week I told myself to save some time and I have been wearing the same shirt for 4 days! I also like feeling strong and with energy (not to mention my clothes are looser).

  5. This is AWESOME, I absolutely love #3 because we share the same ick factor when it comes to people's yuck (not eating something that touched the table because you never know who or what was there before you.) but I too have had to learn to roll around on the ground in other people's "dirt and dried sweat". You are doing amazing and look wonderful!

  6. I think #3 is why Spiece lets us work out there so we can help clean the floor for them. This program definitely does lead to lifestyle changes we never thought we would make. We all come up with changes to help us get around and do what we need to do. Glad you are making these changes so you can make the greater changes to your life. Keep pushing forward Kim.
