Soda
Im a soda (that's what we call it in AZ) addict, I've been drinking soda since I was young and that's pretty much ALL I drank. I've quit a couple times before and thought it was easy to give up but I think that's because I knew I really could have it again if I wanted it. This time is really difficult, when we are out on weekends I just keep thinking how much I want to pull into a gas station or drive thru and get a soda. I won't, because I'm also stubborn and when I put my mind to something I'm going to do it but this is a struggle.

I'm from Vermont and soda is what it is to be called. I am so glad you are stubborn here. Everyone has some sort of kryptonite in the program. The key is knowing what it is and doing to work to overcome it. Great job and keep it up.
ReplyDeleteI was a heavy soda drinker ... last one I had was March 24, 2013 ... around noon. I had just finished a 20 oz bottle of Wild Cherry Pepsi and then went to FWSW season 6 orientation. During that meeting, Rick dropped the "no soda" boom. I made it through boot camp without drinking it, and I'm afraid to start again. I don't think I could show restraint.
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya girl! I'm a Mt. Dew girl tride and true! But, I'm making it through one day at a time!

ReplyDeleteI just keep repeating to myself what Bev said "there is NO nutritional value in soda". There is no reason whatsoever to drink it, it doesn't quench our thirst, it doesn't give us vitamins, it doesn't even fill us up. This is what I have to remember every time I crave one. Frank - I would not be able to restrain either which is why even after boot camp it's goodbye soda forever.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great thing to repeat to yourself when tempted! On soda and food with no nutritional value!
ReplyDeleteFrank used to have really rough, dry skin on his elbows. After 3 weeks of no soda, and correct hydration, that was gone. And has never come back!
Diet Dr. Pepper was my vice...hang in there! I think it will have to be cold turkey for me as well. I'm afraid if I had a taste it would be too easy to go back.
ReplyDeleteI held the door for someone at work yesterday carrying in two 44oz fountain drinks from the gas station down the street. I was tempted for about 10 seconds until I thought about how much better I'm feeling right now. Getting fit is way more satisfying than that soda would be.
ReplyDeleteGreat job Matt and thanks for sharing.
