Bummed

Tonight's weigh-in was a real bummer for me. I cannot believe I did not lose more. I was hoping for at least a 5 pound loss. Oh well ... I will see what next week's weigh-in brings. Even though I was bummed, I did not turn to any of my old comfort food. I ate a healthy meal for dinner. I did splurge though by eating 5 ounces of salmon, when I had already had my 5 servings of protein for the day. That was a little bit of my I don't care attitude. I also got my 30 minute walk in this evening.  My grandson and the two next door neighbor girls, (14 and 11 years old) walked with me around our neighborhood. The 14 year old knew that I was bummed and she kept encouraging me while we walked. Walking with them was a nice way to end my evening.

  1. Toni, you are not alone! I'm very happy for you that you have friends around!

  2. Remember that the week before was a super-sized drop and that it's not realistic to expect that every week. You're averaging 4.8 per week so far, and that's impressive!

  3. Ditto what Frank said!
And remember Rick said that those who had a big loss week 1 would likely have a smaller loss for week 2. And Rick's goal for BMSW2 is 3.3 pounds a week average, and like Frank pointed out, you are average 4.6!
And Rick said a better indicator of how you are doing is a 2 week average...
So...you need to turn your thinking around Tina!
You should celebrate the 9.6 pounds you have lost in 2 weeks!!! You have lost 3.88% of your body weight already!
This is a time to celebrate your success! I am overjoyed for you!
Hoping your perspective can change on this quickly, so you can realize and celebrate what you have accomplished!
Each milestone, pounds lost, exercise done longer/better/harder/with better technique....when I took the time to celebrate those....it helped fuel me to keep going! I still look at all the success that smallest winner has given me, and when I get something hard for instance, in dance class, I think, I'm a smallest winner alum, I can do this!

  4. Remember what you can control. You can control what you are putting into your body and what you do with your body. The actual weight loss you cannot control. Remember you are in for the long road. Some weeks your body will cooperate and you will see big weight loss, other weeks your body will figure out you are trying to do something and therefore will rebel and hold back the weight loss. When your body rebels too long talk with the nutritionists to see if you need to make changes. No matter what happens each week just ask how faithful you have been to the plan and then ask yourself what you have learned and how you should change in response. You are doing great don't let your mind deter you.
