Counting Calories

Yesterday was my first full day of counting my calories. Ever. I have usually just eaten whatever I wanted, and I was definitely nervous about watching what I eat so carefully.

The first email I opened at work yesterday was letting me know that there was breakfast casserole in our "food cube" at work. Yes, we have a cubicle that is designated for food. I have never said no to the "food cube" before, and I knew that this was my first test. A little bit later I walked down to the cafeteria to make my salad, and they had cheesecake sitting out. It seemed like my entire day was full of opportunities to eat something I shouldn't, but I'm happy to say I made it through the day just under my goal of 1500 Calories.

I'm sure there are going to be more challenging days ahead, but I was so happy to make it through my first day. I woke up excited to start over again and work on figuring out better ways to make my meals count.

  1. Brotherhood has a similar 'foodie'culture. Is there anyone else at work that has an interest in improving their eating habits that you can team with? BTW, awesome run this morning!

  2. Are you sure you don't work at Brotherhood. It is so interesting how much food is part of our culture. I hope you can find some great support for you at your office so you are not having to face this alone. Enjoyed watching you do the run this morning and can't wait to see how well you do with the things they give us to do this season.
