Wisdom from Frank

I regularly read a certain runner’s blog (surprise, I know), and he had this great quote in his last entry:

“Running is not a sport that we can ‘cram for the exam.’ We can only line up on race day with the training we have put in ... or not put in.”

This is an excellent reminder for fitness in general and not just running. Despite what you see in our culture, there are no shortcuts or loopholes in fitness. I hope we’ve made this abundantly clear. It’s all about eating correctly, exercising responsibly, and maintaining accountability … and it’s impossible to ‘cram for the exam’ in any of these areas. The big difference between today and two months ago is that we used to say “we’ll teach how to do these things” and now we’re saying “you know what to do.”
