Mornings

I am definitely not a morning person. But getting up for these early-morning workouts has taught me a few things and I thought I would share them with you.
1.  At 5:30 in the morning, the roads are basically mine.  I don't have to fight any traffic to get to the gym.
2.  Due to my love of the snooze button, I found new ways to become more efficient in the morning. I can be up and out of the door in a matter of minutes. I can brush my teeth and put on my socks and shoes at the same time. Also, it saves tons of time to sleep in your workout clothes.
3.  Since I leave my apartment so early, I am the first person to leave my apartment and therefore end up clearing out the spiderwebs in front of the lobby door with my face. Seriously, you would think I would learn to duck by now...
4.  If you gotten up and had an entire day before your roommate has even gotten out of bed, do not obnoxiously yell "rise and shine" just to taunt them. This may result in a homicidal threat.
5.  Inevitably, when I say I have to "call it a early night," I usually get the "oh, come on grandma" response. I am definitely not on the same sleep schedule as a lot of my friends and they like to remind me of that.
All this to say, mornings are rough and getting up to workout it really hard. But after I have done it, I am so glad that I did.

  1. I love your listing of things you discovered getting up early, especially listing the humor. That is just as much a life style change as the eating and workout changes. It is so easy to talk yourself out of getting up early so you need to keep committed to it. You are doing great even though you have to break new cobwebs.

  2. Love this! You made me laugh and smile.
You HAVE to teach me how to put on socks/shoes while brushing teeth!
So many people have told me they plan to work out, but work, life, family responsibilities, would block that intention , (yes, an excuse). ....
Working out early, means it's done, nothing to stand in your way, and able to be proud of what you've already accomplished! This was a new thing for me and Frank too. Especially Frank, he was always a night owl! We still do our morning workouts. It works for us, so why would westop?
