Not just for me but for my husband and boys!
As you know, it's difficult to ask children to eat broccoli. To my surprise, my older son (almost 11) picked a large broccoli and told me 'mom, for some reason I'm not scared to eat broccoli anymore.' before I asked him to eat during our supper on the past Monday. He also went to his brother (just passed 4) and 'lectured' him 'water is the best, don't just drink juice.... you need to eat broccoli... otherwise, you'll get diabetes...' Of course the 4 years old didn't know what diabetes is and started to ask. My older son continued to 'scare' his brother. I didn't think my younger son believed fully in his brother but to me, the most important thing was they both finished their plate/bowl on that day without me talking into them. Kids are observant. They are learning from what we're doing and sharing with them. I hope I can not only change my eating and working out habits but also shape theirs to a correct direction!

I so agree Li-Ming. I have struggled with being overweight as a kid, and I do not want my kids to struggle with that as well. They definitely watch us and observe and compare. Praying that we can give them better tools to be healthy kids as well as adults. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a great post Li-Ming. So cool that your entire family will benefit from this awesome experience that we are so blessed with.

ReplyDeleteLi-Ming thanks for sharing the effect already on your family. We have no idea how what we do effects those around us. We are being watched and people will be influenced by what they see each of us doing.
