Life is full of little challenges...

I think that participating in Smallest Winner would have to a lot harder than the Biggest Loser. Sequestered on a beautiful ranch with personal chefs, no distractions, not having to plan...

Planning is not one of natural gifts when it comes to food or working out. However, not planning is opening myself up to bad choices or settling for something not ideal.

I am planning on taking the kids to the Elkhart County Fair tomorrow. Yup - fair food - in all of it's greasy, sugary glory.

Yup, I am planning on wearing a backpack with alternatives for me. Planning ahead for this trip, I decided we would eat lunch at home - normally we would eat there. Packing water bottles so we can stay hydrated as we walk, and I told the kids that they could get a small snack there, but I wouldn't be participating. I plan on leaving around supper time to leave all the fair options behind. I am lucky that I can pop into my mother in law's house right across the street in case I need anything. Today I have a new sloppy joe recipe that I'm trying out in the crockpot that I will put over brown rice. I will take that along with me on Friday when we go up there to help park cars on their property. Normally I would of taken a lunch break at the fair and have probably have bought and ate the deep fried veggie bucket. Not proud of that one, but proud that I will have more tools to avoid it this year.

Is it me or does food smell more tempting lately? I'm working and flexing those willpower muscles for sure...

  1. I think the Biggest Loser would be harder because once they think they are set then they get thrown back into real life where they have to then learn how to live real life. You are learning real life from the start and doing a great job with it. All of your planning will pay off so you can enjoy and still watch you are eating. Great job on your planning. You have me tasting sloppie joes now, need to know your recipe.

  2. I agree with you both. On the ranch, Biggest Lose would be easier, kitchen stocked for you, trainers and gym for hours without regular life. Then boom, home, how do you do this? Shop, plan your food, schedule with family and work!
This starts harder, but truly training you for life!
I am so glad you have a plan for today!
I like to do the same, eat meals at home, pack food in case I need it.
    Really proud of you!
